These traditional earrings are from the Fulani people of West Africa. They are a marker of wealth amongst the Fula people of Mali. The bigger the earring the wealthier the wearer.
The regular size is 1.5" in diameter and the larger size is 2" in diameter.
The ear wire hooks directly into the groove created for it behind the ear.
